Does music for the Christian help us in our struggles? ?
In the Old Testament, the prophet Elisha asked for a musician (minstrel) to be brought in his presence as he was about to inquire of the LORD for the king of Judah: “But now bring me a musician.” Then it happened, when the musician played, that the hand of the LORD came upon him. And he said, “Thus says the LORD:…”
We also read: “Whenever the spirit from God came upon Saul, David would take his harp and play. Then relief would come to Saul; he would feel better, and the evil spirit would leave him” (1 Samuel 16:23). Saul was plagued by a harrassing spirit and whenever David would play the harp, the annointing would subdue the evil spirit.

Yes, worship music helps keep my focus on Jesus, and calms my anxious spirit. Music soothes our soul, as it did to King Saul’s and prophet Elisha’s.
Worship also causes us to draw closer to God and sees His heart of love and wisdom. We become wiser as we worship Him – it’s supernatural. (Psalm 25:14) The Bible mentions some of the wisest men in Solomon’s days, including Ethan the Ezrahite who wrote a psalm. (1 Kings 4:31, Psalm 89)
David worshipped the Lord because he saw His heart of forgiveness. “There is forgiveness with You, that You may be feared (or revered)” (Psalm 130:4) We can also learn from David to magnify the Lord in our consciousness, reminding ourselves that God is bigger than all our problems.
“Oh, magnify the Lord with me,
And let us exalt His name together.
I sought the Lord, and He heard me,
and delivered me from all my fears.”
(Psalm 34:3-4)
We are blessed whenever we worship the Lord for who He is and what He has done for us, for “happy is the man who is always reverent” (Psalm 28:14)
